Play Highlighted Contribution of Elders to Today’s Society and Offered Opportunity for All Ages to Celebrate Day Together

Doha,Qatar

Ooredoo today announced a play it sponsored to celebrate International Day of Older Persons was a huge success, as shown by the many photographs and social media shares of the event.

The leading telecommunications operator was Official Telecommunications Sponsor for a play entitled Tales of My Grandfather, which was presented at Qatar Mall on 10 and 11 October by the Elderly Empowerment and Care Center “Ehsan” under the umbrella of Qatar Foundation for Social Work.

Tales of My Grandfather was intended to honour senior citizens and share with the younger generations the contribution of their elders to our society, bridging age gaps and bringing community members together. Hundreds of visitors enjoyed the performances, from toddlers to grandparents and every age in between, in celebration of International Day of Older Persons.

Manar Khalifa Al-Muraikhi – Director PR and Corporate Communications at Ooredoo – said of the event: “We were so pleased to see such a good turn-out for performances of Tales of My Grandfather. The family unit is of such critical importance to our communities and our culture here in Qatar, and it was wonderful to see so many visitors from all generations enjoying spending time together acknowledging and appreciating the contribution of our elders. Supporting such community events is a key pillar of our strategy, and we were delighted to work with our longstanding partner Qatar Foundation to bring the play to life.”
