Prestigious Brand Finance Report Puts Ooredoo as Second Most Powerful Brand in Qatar with Brand Value of US $3.2 Billion

Doha, Qatar
Telecoms giant Ooredoo has been identified by the world’s leading brand valuation consultancy as one of the top two strongest brands in Qatar by brand value.

The prestigious Brand Finance report – by the author of Qatar 10 2021 – ranked Ooredoo in the top two most powerful brands in Qatar, with a brand value set at US$3.2 billion.

The valuation is based on monitoring brand performance, by evaluating how such factors as trust and messaging can feed into profitability.

The telecommunications operator credits the strong valuation to a number of factors, including its performance throughout the challenging business conditions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and its ongoing successful roll-out of the 5G network.

Ooredoo Group has also maintained its predominance in the region, remaining in the top three most valuable brands in Middle East. Analysis in the Brand Finance report highlights an anticipation that strategic partnerships with Ericsson and Nokia will strengthen this further.

Researchers drew attention to the professional response of Ooredoo to the global pandemic situation, describing the company as being ‘thrust to the centre of how societies are now forced to function’. Working from home and home-schooling have drawn heavily on Ooredoo services and expertise in order to operate smoothly under difficult circumstances, with the telco operator’s proactive strategy in preceding years meaning it was more than able to meet increased and shifting demands.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulla Al Thani – CEO at Ooredoo Qatar and Deputy Group CEO at Ooredoo Group – said: “We are immensely proud to be recognised as one of the strongest brands in Qatar by such a respected industry name. Thanks to our visionary leadership and to the exemplary efforts of our staff, we have been able to maintain a stable position despite the ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, and are delighted to see this translating to strong brand value. As Qatar’s leading telecommunications operator, we are completely committed to the achievement of Qatar National Vision 2030 and to the development of the country, and we look forward to many more years of prominence as we work towards a digital future.”
Doha-based telecommunications operator Ooredoo Qatar is at the heart of Ooredoo Group, active in 10 markets across the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia.
