Ooredoo to Bring People Together with a Host of CSR Activities and Exciting Events Under its ‘Connecting and Giving’ Ramadan Campaign

Doha, Qatar

Following the launch of its Ramadan campaign under the theme ‘Connecting and Giving’, Ooredoo – Qatar’s leading telecommunications operator – has announced a series of sponsorships and CSR activities targeting all age groups to support the community during the Holy Month.

Ooredoo is the Exclusive Telecommunications Partner of Msheireb Downtown’s Ramadan events for this year. Msheireb downtown will be the top destination during the Month, where Ooredoo will leverage the different experiences that the popular location has to offer to bring communities together.

Planned events include the Garangao Kids’ Fashion Show, featuring interactive activities, a 360-photography opportunity and a social media competition. Ooredoo will also use the tram to distribute sweets during Garangao. On weekdays, the Msahar will roam SWM showcasing the traditional Ramadan performance.

Sheikh Ali Bin Jabor Al Thani, Chief Executive Officer at Ooredoo Qatar, said: “We are delighted to launch our annual Ramadan CSR activities and events under the theme ‘Connecting and Giving’. This is a special time of year where we come together as a community to celebrate, give back and support each other. We are very excited to partner with Msheireb Downtown to deliver unforgettable events for everyone. We hope that these initiatives will bring people closer, create new experiences, and help make a positive impact.”

Eng. Ali Mohammed Al Kuwari CEO at Msheireb Properties said: “We are honoured to have the support of Ooredoo as the Exclusive Telecom Partner for our Ramadan activities. Our joint effort reflects our common values and vision to offer our community the proper activities and environment to commemorate these special moments. We look forward to welcoming all families and visitors of all ages to enjoy a special and unique experience at Msheireb Downtown Doha”.

As part of this year’s campaign, Ooredoo has also partnered with a number of local NGOs to implement a range of CSR initiatives.

The company has partnered with Rafeeq Al-Khair, an initiative aiming to uphold the spirit of humanitarian work among members of society. The initiative will be presented via Live Rafeeq Instagram on a daily basis during the Holy Month of Ramadan, and will feature a daily question in the Rafeeq Al-Khair competition, with prizes up for grabs.

Ooredoo is the Strategic Communications Partner of Qatar Red Crescent’s Khairkum Sabeq Festival, supporting the organisation’s efforts to distribute essentials to those in needs.

The Meshkat Holy Quran competition supported by Ooredoo will see around 400 male and female participants compete to promote good deeds and raise religious awareness.

The company’s efforts go beyond borders with its sponsorship of Silatech’s Ramadan Fundraising drive campaign, aiming to support the world’s most vulnerable and marginalised youth through employment and economic opportunities.

Under the patronage of H.E Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), the Nishan Ooredoo Ramadan Tournament will be organised at the Lusail Shooting Range, where competitors will fight for top places in four categories: Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Archery.

To reinforce the benefits of leading healthy lifestyles through regular activity, as well as build new social skills for Qatar’s youth, the company will launch the Ooredoo League for the Children of Al Freij. This tournament will be held in partnership with Lusail Sports Club, Qatar Sports for All Federation, Simaisma, Al Daayen Youth Center and Aspire, and will target children aged 10 to 14 years. 29 teams will be formed for four different age groups, with matches – from group stages to the final – held at the Lusail Sports Club stadiums.

And finally, Ooredoo is launching a Ramadan recycling campaign, enabling Ooredoo shops visitors to donate any electronic devices. These devices will either be distributed to people in need or recycled.

Sheikh Ali concluded: “Ramadan is a time of giving, and at Ooredoo, we are proud to support our community through these activities. As we continue to connect and give back, we wish everyone a blessed Ramadan, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to our events.”
