Ooredoo honour teachers in the community with special gift vouchers for World Teachers’ Day
Doha, Qatar
Qatar’s national telephone carrier, Ooredoo, celebrated World Teachers’ Day in Qatar by including select teachers in its Doha capital in a special gift voucher giveaway initiative.
To show appreciation for the hard work and sheer dedication of teachers in the community, a representative from the network carried out a personal drop off the vouchers.
The move comes as part of the long-standing commitments and values of Ooredoo to go beyond business borders, dynamically serve the general public and exceptional contributors to civil society.
Teachers Day is celebrated internationally on 5 October every year and organisations across Qatar and around the world rally around the importance of having and celebrating great teachers everywhere.
On the occasion, Mr Sabah Rabiah Al Kuwari, Director of PR at Ooredoo, shared a special memo on the day:
“Ooredoo’s Social Corporate Responsibility programme has a long line of history in community initiatives. Teachers are a part of the grassroots that grow our future generations into budding weeds.
“We feel it’s important to give back to each and every valued part of the community tree, on top of ensuring our customers are happy – no loyalty or notable service in our world goes un-noticed.”
On the occasion, Mr. William Vue, Director of Awsaj Academy, a member of Qatar Foundation, part of Pre-University Education (PUE), shared his thoughts:
“I want to sincerely thank Ooredoo for their support on such a special day. Our teachers were pleasantly surprised and so appreciative for the kind gesture.”
“Ooredoo has made World Teacher Day even more special with their visit and gifts.”
Ms. Joanne Kruger, a teacher from Qatar Academy, also expressed her gratitude at the gesture saying:
“I extend my deepest gratitude to PUE and Ooreedoo, for honoring teachers on World Teachers’ Day.
My family and I will always be grateful to Qatar Academy Doha for all the incredible opportunities we have experienced over the past 19 years of living in this wonderful country.”
The teacher who has been teaching in the country for almost 20 years continued:
“As some wise person once said: ‘Teaching is not just a profession; it is a lifelong commitment to being a student of the world.’ – Qatar Academy has afforded my family and I the opportunity to truly embrace being lifelong learners, as we have all continued to study.”
“Your support and appreciation of teachers mean the world to the teaching community. Once again, thank you for taking the time to recognize the valuable work teachers do.”
