Ooredoo Earns Double Recognition at the 2026 International Finance Awards
Dual Awards Recognise Ooredoo’s Leadership in Qatar’s Telecom Sector and AI-Powered Transformation

Ooredoo, Qatar’s leading telecommunications and ICT provider, has earned double recognition at the 2026 International Finance Awards, winning Best Telecom Company – Qatar 2026 and Best Digital Transformation Telecom Company – Qatar 2026.
The awards recognise both Ooredoo’s continued leadership in Qatar’s telecommunications sector and the progress of its transformation into an AI-powered technology company, combining next-generation connectivity with advanced AI, cloud and digital capabilities to support Qatar’s advancing digital economy.
Ooredoo continues to invest in infrastructure and technologies underpinning the country’s connected, knowledge-based economy. Its 5G network covers 99.5% of the population, while the company continues to advance technologies including 5G Advanced and Wi-Fi 7, alongside its world-first commercial deployment of 50G PON fibre.
Ooredoo is also strengthening Qatar’s position as a regional digital hub through major infrastructure investments. These include the Fibre in the Gulf (FIG) subsea cable system, the largest subsea cable built in the GCC, designed with a capacity of 720 Tbps across 24 fibre pairs and connecting seven markets, alongside the continued expansion of its data centre capabilities.
At the same time, Ooredoo is accelerating its digital transformation through AI and cloud technologies. In May 2026, Ooredoo launched its Strategic Digital & AI Transformation Programme, supported by Microsoft, to drive transformation across operations, customer engagement, enterprise solutions, and future digital platforms.
The Strategic Digital & AI Transformation Programme builds on early successes such as the AI-powered assistant Obot, which resolves 70% of first-contact queries, AI-driven eKYC, which reduced onboarding from days to minutes, and AI-powered service operations, which have reduced Mean Time to Resolve incidents by 30%.
Ooredoo is also bringing its AI and digital expertise to the wider market, supporting Qatar’s broader digital transformation. Through initiatives including its sovereign AI cloud with NVIDIA and expanding data centre infrastructure, Ooredoo is enabling organisations across Qatar to adopt AI, modernise operations, and accelerate digital transformation.
Beyond technology, Ooredoo continues to contribute to Qatar’s communities and national development.
