Ooredoo and Ehsan hold workshop for elderly.
Doha, Qatar
Qatar’s national telecoms provider, Ooredoo, hosted a three-day workshop to raise awareness among the elderly community on measures they can take to avoid being victims of fraud.
The workshop provided over 45 participants with guidelines to follow in case they were to receive fraudulent calls or WhatsApp messages. Another key highlight of the initiative included a step-by-step tutorial on how to safely use the Ooredoo application on varying platforms and devices.
Ooredoo Qatar’s Director of PR, Sabah Al Kuwari, spoke about taking a practical approach to supporting the community with their digital safety, saying:
“It was incredibly important to us that we mobilised a workshop to establish some groundwork around using the Ooredoo App, tackling the problem of online and mobile fraud, and raising awareness for our loyal elderly consumer base, who have been consistently targeted in the past.”
Al Kuwari also spoke about why Ooredoo’s commitment to support its users is crucially paramount, adding:
“We take our corporate social responsibility seriously and care about all our users, both young and old. It is vital to us that they have a safe and pleasant experience over our channels. This is why we are grateful for the support and expertise of Ehsan in assisting us in bringing more awareness, communication and togetherness around this topic, and we plan to monitor any digital community needs for further workshops of this calibre in the future.”
Khaled Abdullah, Ehsan’s Director of Community Awareness and Communication, and Jaber Al Marri, Ehsan’s Head of Media, were also present at the activities. Al Marri shared his appreciation for the inclusivity that Ooredoo displayed, saying:
“It’s our pleasure to join hands with Ooredoo on this crucial initiative for our elderly beneficiaries. We work with Qatar’s elderly community to help them continue to develop their skills and knowledge and we are proud that this workshop served its purpose in helping participants navigate and adapt to digital challenges .”
Ehsan is renowned for providing resources for Qatar’s elderly citizens to increase their productivity and participation in society, helping train and keep them actively involved in Qatar’s vision for education and learning, a cause which Ooredoo has long been affiliated with.
