Doha Marathon by Ooredoo 2026 Set to Welcome 20,000 Runners in Its Most Inclusive Edition Yet

Sabah Rabiah Al Kuwari: Our goal is 20,000 participants – with new features including the Blue Fun Run for children with autism, QAR 1 million in prizes, and charitable contributions

Doha, Qatar

Ooredoo, Qatar’s leading telecommunications provider, hosted a press conference on 27 October to announce new updates for the upcoming Doha Marathon by Ooredoo 2026, set to take place on Friday, 16 January 2026. The event, now in its 14th edition, continues to grow as one of the region’s most celebrated sporting occasions, attracting runners worldwide and inspiring thousands to participate in a celebration of sport, community, and inclusivity.

The 2026 edition introduces exciting new enhancements to elevate every runner’s experience. Among them is Blue Fun Run, launched in partnership with the Autism Parents Platform and supported by Doha’s autism organisations, offering a dedicated space for children with autism to participate in on the same day as the Kids’ Fun Run.

Another new feature is optional name and time engraving at Marathon Village, and Nojoom Points registration through the Ooredoo App for loyalty programme members.

As part of its partnership with Ooredoo, Qatar Airways will offer a 10% discount on airfares for all international participants, who will receive a unique code to redeem their offer at the time of booking.

Cash prizes of approximately QR 1,000,000 will be awarded across all categories. Two Toyota Prado 2026 vehicles will be raffled among finishers in the 5 km, 10 km, 21 km, and 42 km races. In keeping with Ooredoo’s commitment to giving back to the community, proceeds from the marathon will be donated to charity. On race day, the Marathon Village will offer free physiotherapy services, food outlets, wellness zones, and celebration areas for participants and families.

Platinum Sponsors support the event, including Katara Hospitality, New Balance, the Official Sports Footwear and Apparel Partner, and Al Abdulghani Motors, the Exclusive Mobility Partner, reflecting their shared commitment to promoting sports and community wellbeing. Gold Sponsors Doha Bank and United Development Company (UDC) reinforce their commitment to supporting national sporting initiatives.

The list of Silver Sponsors features Qommunication, Rayyan Water, Qatar Insurance Group (QIC), Rafeeq, and PayLater — each contributing to the event’s success through dedicated community partnerships. Al Kass Sports Channels returns as the Official Broadcast Partner, ensuring the marathon reaches audiences across Qatar and beyond.

Supporting Partners include Ashghal Public Works Authority, the Ministry of Interior, and the Qatar Athletics Federation (QAF), whose joint efforts are essential to the smooth and successful delivery of this landmark event. The Ministry of Interior and Ashghal play a crucial role in coordinating road operations, implementing safety measures, managing traffic flow, and ensuring clear signage — enabling a secure and seamless experience for all participants and spectators.

Sabah Rabiah Al Kuwari, Vice Chairman of the Doha Marathon by Ooredoo Committee and Senior Director Marketing Communications at Ooredoo Qatar, said, “Sport brings people together, inspires healthier lifestyles, and strengthens our sense of community. The Doha Marathon is set to be our largest yet, with an expected 20,000 participants. This year, we are introducing several new features — from Blue Fun Run and exclusive travel packages to Nojoom integration — all designed to make the marathon more accessible, inclusive, and memorable for everyone involved.”

Sheikha Asma Al Thani, Ooredoo’s official brand ambassador, was present at the press conference to show her support for the unveiling of the latest additions to the 2026 Doha Marathon by Ooredoo. Speaking at the event, Sheikha Asma Al Thani said, “Every race, like every climb, is about challenging your limits and discovering what you are truly capable of. The marathon inspires people of all ages and abilities to push beyond boundaries and come together in the spirit of perseverance and community.”

The 2025 edition drew over 15,000 runners from 140 countries and maintained World Athletics Gold Label status for the second consecutive year. The event continues to grow as a flagship on the international athletics calendar. As the 2026 edition approaches, Ooredoo Qatar continues to drive a culture where health, inclusion, and community spirit define the nation’s sporting excellence.
