Telco Leader to Sponsor Dedicated Fundraising Programme with
Non-Profit Organisation Silatech

Doha, Qatar

Ooredoo Qatar, the region’s leading enabler of digital innovation, will be working with non-profit organisation Silatech this Ramadan to raise funds which will go towards helping those who have experienced negative financial impact due to COVID-19.

Ooredoo’s sponsorship forms part of its Ooredoo AlKhair campaign, launched during the holy month of Ramadan to provide support to a number of charitable organisations.

Until 15 May 2021, Silatech will carry out a fund-raising campaign entitled ‘Spare Them from Asking’ in order to support those whose jobs have been lost due to the negative economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Funds will be collected through a wide range of channels, from digital such as websites, SMS and Nojoom programme donations, to the more conventional bank transfers, cheques and donation boxes. Nojoom members can donate their Nojoom Points via the Ooredoo website or App.

Silatech, established in 2008, is dedicated to helping ensure a brighter future for young people internationally through enabling employment and income-generating enterprises.
Silatech has already helped thousands of unemployed young people in such countries as Tunisia, Palestine, Yemen, Morocco, Somalia and Sudan. Its income-generating enterprises draw upon three key priorities: employment, enterprise development and policy and research.
Public involvement and generosity towards this campaign will help those in financial need in Palestine, Sudan, Chad, Mali, Benin and Niger.

Sabah Rabiah Al-Kuwari — Director PR at Ooredoo — said: “We are proud to be supporting Silatech in this worthwhile campaign. Our corporate social responsibility strategy aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, one of which is ensuring decent work and economic growth for all, and supporting initiatives such as this one is clear evidence of our commitment to these goals. We would urge everyone who is in a position to do so to take part in the campaign, and provide some much-needed assistance for those less fortunate this Ramadan.”
