Ooredoo, as Strategic Sponsor, Advances ‘Safe Smart Cities’, with Partnerships, Solution Launches, Delegations, Presentations, and Interactive Demos

Doha, Qatar

Ooredoo, the region’s leading enabler of digital business innovation, announced that it saw its most successful QITCOM ever, with historic partnerships, solution launches, hosting senior delegations, and exchanging knowledge at the conference and workshop sessions.

In line with QITCOM’s theme “Safe Smart Cities,” Ooredoo, the Strategic Sponsor, led a consortium that won the Ministry of Transport and Communications’ TASMU Central Platform, the digital foundation for the TASMU Smart Qatar Program enabling Qatar as a smart country.

Ooredoo signed a 4-year extension to provide Qatar Airways’ onboard Wi-Fi, and with MADA, the Assistive Technology Centre Qatar, to enhance the lives of persons with disabilities.

Supporting digital transformation, Ooredoo signed partnerships with Microsoft on the Azure Express Route for organisations to access the European public cloud; with Cisco BroadSoft on the Qatar Cloud PABX, Qatar’s first cloud-based calling service; and showcased the concept of Ooredoo Exchange, an innovative Blockchain-based platform for organisations to accept digital wallets, loyalty points and reward programs from any platform to make digital payments.

Oordoo also announced the launch of Ooredoo Life Marketplace at QITCOM 2019. The new solution provides Application Program Interfaces (APIs) for new and innovative business services and solutions. Ooredoo’s other new solution launches included Cloud Backup, Web Application Firewall, and consumer products.

Yousuf Abdulla Al Kubaisi, Ooredoo Qatar Chief Operations Officer, said: “Ooredoo’s most successful QITCOM ever underlines Qatar’s bold steps in becoming a smart country. Our partnerships with multi-national technology companies and local leaders on innovative technologies support nationwide digital transformation, enable organisational competitiveness, and enhance people’s digital lives.”

Crowning Ooredoo’s QITCOM achievements, the organisers awarded Ooredoo with the Best Booth at QITCOM (95-300 square metres). Thousands of visitors experienced Ooredoo’s debut of the fully automated Smart Home, and Internet of Things and cybersecurity innovations in Connected Sports, Healthcare, Transport, Logistics, Environment, and Digital Experiences.

Showing the popularity of Ooredoo’s presence, the company welcomed delegations from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Interior, and the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

Ooredoo thought leaderships took centre stage at QITCOM’s conference programme. Nazeeb Poolakkal presented on “Cybersecurity Challenges in the IoT-Enabled City,” and Onut Toana held a workshop on how organisations can optimise the Ooredoo Azure Stack Public Cloud.

Business customers can leverage the Ooredoo Advantage, making Ooredoo “Best for Business”, thanks to its breadth and depth of talent, best fixed and mobile networks, broadest portfolio of ICT services and solutions, and trusted partner for 60 years.
