Doha, Qatar
Qatar’s leading telecommunications operator has announced it held a clean-up event in honour of Qatar Environment Day 2021 in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.
A dedicated team of Ooredoo volunteers attended the Rawdat Althemaid area at 9am on Saturday 27 February 2021, clearing up any garbage left behind by previous visitors and ensuring the environment was left spotless as it should be. HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie visited the site and commended the efforts made to maintain the cleanliness of the area.
In keeping with the ethos of the day, volunteers also planted some trees.
The event was part of Ooredoo’s ongoing initiative which aims to achieve complete cleanliness of beaches, archaeological sites and tourist spots, in partnership with local entities.
With numbers strictly limited to comply with current social distancing rules, the event was attended by representatives from Ooredoo and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.
Sabah Rabiah Al-Kuwari, Director PR at Ooredoo, said: “We’re proud to be working with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment as part of our corporate social responsibility commitment to sustainability. We all have a responsibility to protect the environment, and a duty to ensure we never leave trash behind; imagine what we could achieve if each of us gave just a few minutes of our time to clean up any mess? We were delighted to see our Ooredoo volunteers giving up their time at the weekend for the benefit of our beautiful country and its citizens and residents, and we look forward to many more such events in the future.”
