Doha, Qatar
Ooredoo has announced it is to renew its sponsorship of the Silver Sword race at the upcoming Amir Sword Festival.
The Championship, set to be held from 20-22 February 2020 at the Racing and Equestrian Club – Al Rayyan, is one of the most prestigious horse-racing tournaments in the region, attracting the most elite horses from stables around the world.
The Silver Sword race will take place on the third day of the tournament.
Speaking of the auspicious event, Waleed Al Sayed, CEO – Ooredoo Qatar – said: “We are committed to supporting events and activities that preserve Qatari culture and heritage, in line with our corporate social responsibility strategy, and we are proud to sponsor this race to be held on the Silver Sword of His Highness The Emir. This prominent event highlights Qatar’s history and identity, and its well-deserved reputation for hosting and we look forward to enjoying some amazing horsemanship and some memorable races.”
Qatar Race and Equestrian Club Chief Executive Officer Nasser bin Sherida Al-Kaabi said: “The Amir Sword Festival is a wonderful opportunity to confirm the importance of horse racing in Qatar, with the presence of international participation from outside Qatar as a result of the reputation of this rapidly developing festival. Having Ooredoo among the sponsors of the festival contributes to the success of the event, and we at the Race and Equestrian Club are proud that Ooredoo is a partner with us in sponsoring the Silver Sword race. This race – one of the most prominent in the festival – is dedicated to the purebred Arabian horse, a breed for which Qatar is well known for its interest. Many high-profile horsemen and trainers participate in the festival, contributing to the Club’s vision of positioning the country as a global centre for equestrian events. Our partnership with Ooredoo will create more opportunities for cooperation and collaboration, with the aim of continuing to shine the international spotlight on Qatar and Arabian horses.”
