Follow the below does and donts to maintain fast Home internet speeds

Ensure Correct Router Placement

  • Keep the router in its original position after the technician’s visit.

  • If you need to move it, ensure the following:

    1. Place it in an open area on a slightly elevated location (e.g., high table or open shelf).

    2. Position it in a central location of your home or close to the area where you use your devices the most.

  • Placing it near large electronic equipment to avoid interference.

  • Positioning it near heat sources.

  • Placing it near large water sources such as a fish tank.

  • Putting it inside cabinets or behind large furniture.

Maintain Homogeneous Wi-Fi Coverage if you need to extend your coverage

  • Reach Ooredoo for help and consultation

  • Use only the same brand routers to extend coverage to more remote parts of your house.

  • If available, connect secondary routers to main via Ethernet/LAN cable to ensure most stable connection.

  • If Ethernet/LAN is not available, place secondary routers within visible distance of the main router.

  • Using third-party Wi-Fi range extenders, as they can create network interference.

  • Never connect any other third-party router with the same or a different Wi-Fi name.

Quick Self-Troubleshooting Tips for Unexpected Service Disruptions

Restarting Your Router

Just like many electronic devices, routers can benefit from a refresh after running continuously for long periods. Restarting your router once in a while can help improve its performance and resolve connection issues.

Steps to Restart Your Router

1 - Switch off the router and unplug it from the socket.

2 - Wait for at least 60 seconds.

3 - Plug the router back in and switch it on.

Regularly Update Your Devices

Wi-Fi speeds depend on many factors, including interference and device performance. Ensure that all connected devices, such as phones, tablets, laptops, and TVs, are regularly checked and updated with the latest software. Additionally, try to reduce the number of connected devices to avoid congestion.

High-Bandwidth Activities

High-bandwidth activities like streaming, syncing files, downloading large files, or updates can slow your internet if multiple users are doing them simultaneously. If you experience a sudden slowdown, check if other users are not engaged in any heavy downloads.
