Ooredoo Takes the Reins as Telecom Partner for World Arabian Horse Championship

Doha, Qatar

Ooredoo, Qatar’s leading telecommunications company, has entered into a strategic three-year agreement with the Katara Cultural Village Foundation to be the exclusive telecom sponsor for the World Arabian Horse Championship (WAHC).

This historic partnership marks a significant milestone in Ooredoo’s commitment to Qatar’s cultural heritage, enhancing the international prestige of this esteemed equestrian event. The World Arabian Horse Championship (WAHC), scheduled for 6 – 9 December 2023, will be the first of its kind to be held outside of France—signifying a new chapter in the history of Arabian equestrian sports.

The partnership also aims to showcase the beauty and elegance of Arabian horses for the next three years. The WAHC 2023 and 2025 editions in Qatar and 2024 event in Paris are poised to offer an unparalleled cultural and interactive experience for audiences worldwide.

Speaking about the partnership, Sheikh Ali Bin Jabor Bin Mohammad Al Thani, Chief Executive Officer of Ooredoo Qatar, remarked: ” We take immense pride in sponsoring the World Arabian Horse Championship through a three-year partnership with Katara. The collaboration kicks off with the championship in Qatar from December 6 to 9, 2023, followed by the Paris Championship in 2024, and ultimately returning to Qatar in 2025.”

The partnership reaffirms Ooredoo’s role as a key player in supporting sports tournaments and events. Furthermore, Ooredoo’s participation in this prestigious competition reflects the company’s commitment to empowering Qatar’s rich and diverse cultural heritage, which is an integral part of the country’s history.

In his speech, His Excellency Dr. Khaled bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti, the General Manager of Katara Cultural Village Foundation, said: “Hosting the 2023 World Arabian Horse Championship was the result of a creative vision and diligent work aimed at making Qatar an important centre for attracting such international championships, especially given the rank of this tournament on the global level of Arabian horse competitions. Katara managed to bring this event, which is hosted for the first time in 42 years outside its home of France, to Qatar. This achievement resulted in a new partnership between Katara and Ooredoo Qatar, the exclusive telecommunications partner for the World Arabian Horse Championship.”

Moreover, His Excellency explained that under this new partnership, Katara and Ooredoo will collaborate through a three-year agreement covering several editions of the World Arabian Horse Championship. The partnership will commence with the Qatar 2023 competition, followed by the Paris event in 2024, and culminate with the Qatari tournament in 2025.

Highlighting the significance of telecommunications and its role in the success of any event, he emphasized that this partnership will be effective and have a significant and important impact.

His Excellency, the General Manager of Katara Cultural Village Foundation, pointed out that the World Arabian Horse Championship 2023 is one of the most prominent global events in equitation. It combines grace and purebred lineage, bringing together over 150 Arabian horses from more than 20 countries for competitions that are characterized by excitement and suspense. H.E. added that organizing the championship in Doha Port, with its blend of authenticity and modernity, provides a wonderful opportunity to showcase the cultural and tourist diversity in Qatar.

We also welcome fans and participants from all over the world who will gather in Doha to watch this global tournament.
