Doha, Qatar

Ooredoo, a leading provider of ICT, has announced it acted as Platinum Supporter of a graduation ceremony for the latest generation of social entrepreneurs.

The Social Development Center (Nama) concluded the 5th generation of its social entrepreneurs development programme, Rawasi 2022, in October 2022 and lauded the graduates at a ceremony held on 15 May 2023 at Wifaq Centre Hall.

Moza Al-Muhannadi, Director of CSR, Sponsorship and Media at Ooredoo said: “We were delighted to support such a worthwhile initiative, and help celebrate the graduation of another generation of invaluable social entrepreneurs. We know we have some immensely talented, innovative young people in Qatar, and to see them harness their skills, abilities and enthusiasm for the good of our country is inspiring indeed. We wish the 5th generation of Rawasi entrepreneurs all the very best in their future endeavours, and thank Nama Center for the opportunity to be involved.”

The Social Development Center (Nama) launched Rawasi to create new generations of social entrepreneurs. The six-workshop programme, which concluded in October 2022, highlighted the ways in which social entrepreneurs can help drive tangible social change through establishing business projects that focus on creating a positive impact within the community and adding value to society.

During the ceremony, Manar Al Jabri – Director of the Social Service Department at Nama– said: ” The Nama Center is working constantly to learn from international experiences in creating empowered social entrepreneurs who understand their national responsibility. Over the past five years, the Center has sought to reinforce the importance of social entrepreneurship among young people through training and by highlighting its active role in finding solutions to social, cultural and environmental issues, in order to drive positive change and make a difference in Qatari society.”

She added: “The Rawasi programme was developed with the aim of nurturing youth talents in social entrepreneurship. We take this opportunity to express our appreciation and gratitude to the programme’s sponsors, our Platinum Supporter Ooredoo, and everyone who contributed to the programme’s success. Finally, I congratulate the programme participants on their graduation and wish them continued success and happiness on their journey.”

Some 90 trainees took part in the Rawasi 2022 programme. The graduation ceremony was held on 15 May 2023 at Wifaq Centre Hall, and Ooredoo’s Director CSR, Sponsorship and Media – Moza Khalid Al-Muhannadi – attended on behalf of the company.
