Ooredoo Recognised for Outstanding Commitment to CSR at Major Qatar CSR Award Ceremony

Doha, Qatar

Ooredoo – Qatar’s leading provider of ICT solutions and services – has announced it has been recognised at a gala dinner honouring organisations in Qatar for their corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Ooredoo received the award for Best CSR Initiatives in the ICT Sector at the Qatar CSR Awards 2023 Gala Dinner. The awards ceremony formed part of Qatar CSR Summit 2023, held at Qatar University College of Business and Economics from 16-18 May 2023.

Moza Khalid Al-Muhannadi – Director CSR, Sponsorship and Media at Ooredoo – received the award at the Gala Dinner on behalf of the company. As part of Ooredoo’s participation in the Summit, Moza delivered a presentation providing an overview of Ooredoo’s CSR initiatives, during which she launched a new initiative with partner Seashore to promote and encourage sustainability. The initiative enabled the techco’s customers to bring their unwanted devices to be recycled and receive Nojoom Points as a reward.

Sheikh Ali Bin Jabor Al Thani, Chief Executive Officer, Ooredoo Qatar, said: “We were delighted to receive recognition for our CSR efforts from such an esteemed panel of judges. We have long had a firm commitment to integrating CSR across our operations, as a core pillar of our corporate strategy, and to have our commitment – evident in our many initiatives designed to support and give back to our community – recognised in such a way is high praise indeed.”

Ooredoo acted as Exclusive Telecommunications Sponsor at Qatar CSR Summit 2023, which was held under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar. Stakeholders from both the public and private sectors benefited from the opportunity to explore the integration of CSR into core business, as well as build relationships with key partners in both sectors to promote their brands and initiatives.

Sheikh Ali concluded: “Qatar CSR Summit 2023 offered an invaluable opportunity to major organisations from a number of industries and verticals, and we were proud to take part, share our experiences and collaborate for the good of our country. Ooredoo is committed to continuing its efforts towards promoting sustainable social and environmental development in Qatar and we look forward to implementing more initiatives to create a better future for all.”
