Ooredoo Raises its Community Engagement with Qatar Charity Donation

Doha, Qatar

Qatar’s leading telecommunications operator has announced it held a ceremony with Qatar Charity to announce the donation of funds raised for the charitable organisation.

The ceremony was held at Ooredoo Tower in West Bay, Doha, on Sunday 18 September 2022, with Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulla Al Thani, CEO at Ooredoo, and Qatar Charity CEO Yousif Ahmed Al Kuwari in attendance.

Sheikh Mohammed announced the donation will be raised by Ooredoo via an auction of its Special Numbers that will take place on Tuesday 20 Sep 2022 at Ooredoo headquarters in West Bay, Doha starting at 6 PM.

Ooredoo and Qatar Charity share a longstanding relationship, with the telecommunications leader supporting a vast number of Qatar Charity initiatives over the years.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulla Al Thani said: “We were delighted to announce our donation to Qatar Charity at the recent ceremony. Supporting the communities in which we operate is a key part of our corporate social responsibility strategy, and we are always looking for ways in which we can demonstrate this support in a practical way. We look forward to many more years of the robust partnership we currently enjoy with Qatar Charity, and thank them for their stellar work to improve the lives of our community members and the lives of those in need of assistance further afield.”

Qatar Charity, founded in 1992, is a non-governmental organisation which works to develop communities in Qatar and further afield, both socially and culturally, as well as undertaking disaster relief initiatives.

Yousif Ahmed Al Kuwari, CEO at Qatar Charity, said: “We extend our thanks to Ooredoo for their latest donation, and for being such staunch supporters of Qatar Charity for so many years. We are proud to contribute to Qatari society and support communities in need both in Qatar and further afield, and are grateful to our many supporters – especially Ooredoo, a main sponsor – for their help in enabling us to continue our work.”

Ooredoo has worked with Qatar Charity on a huge range of its initiatives, and offers its Nojoom loyalty programme members the opportunity to donate their Nojoom Points to help the organisation continue its invaluable work.
