Ooredoo Continues Pioneering Journey into eSports with Team Member Major Win

Doha, Qatar

Ooredoo – Qatar’s leading ICT provider and pioneer of eSports in the Middle East region – has announced a member of its eSports team, Ooredoo Thunders, has won a major regional eSports tournament and qualified for a prestigious event in the USA.

Ooredoo Thunders team member Hellon –Muhammad Shaheer Khan – won the first round of the initial qualifiers of the Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) Middle East, followed by three semi-final sessions, and ultimately qualified for the Grand Finals, becoming eligible to compete in the FNCS Middle East main round and claim victory.

Of the FNCS Middle East USD120,000 prize pool, the Ooredoo Thunders won USD25,000, with Hellon’s share USD12,500. This victory secured Hellon’s invitation to the FNCS Invitational in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA in November 2022. The FNCS Invitational is a single-lobby event with a million-dollar prize pool, and the first to take place since 2019 and the pandemic.
