Telco Leader to be Official Telecommunication Sponsor of 2022 Camel Racing Festival

Doha, Qatar

Qatar’s leading telecommunications operator has announced it is to be Official Telecommunication Sponsor of the upcoming camel racing festival set to be held at Al Shahaniya camel race track.

The festival – scheduled to take place from 19-31 March 2022 – is well known as one of the most popular camel racing events in the Middle East region, attracting some 6,000 camels and hundreds of trainers from Qatar and elsewhere in the Gulf.
The event, held under the patronage of His Highness The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, is organised by the Camel Racing Organising Committee of Qatar, headed by His Excellency Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Faisal Al Thani. The Committee is dedicated to preserving and promoting the traditional sport of camel racing, and ensuring it remains a key part of Qatari culture and heritage for future generations to enjoy.
A range of races are run over distances of 4, 6 and 8km, and the final race is considered the most prestigious with the winner being awarded the sword from His Highness The Emir.
Speaking of the event and sponsorship, Sabah Rabiah Al-Kuwari– Director PR at Ooredoo – said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring this prominent event, which is an excellent example of a traditional Qatari and Gulf sport. We are committed to supporting events that benefit the communities in which we operate as part of our corporate social responsibility strategy, and actively seek opportunities through which we can demonstrate this commitment. We’re looking forward to seeing some excellent racing during the festival, and we wish all entrants the best of luck for the main race!”
