Keynote Panel Discussion Addresses Impact of 5G on Development of Internet of Things
Ooredoo, an industry pioneer in digitalisation and the advance of 5G, is proud to have been invited to take part in a keynote panel discussion on the Internet of Things (IoT) at the Telecoms World Middle East conference on 16 June 2021.
Mrs Fuencisla Merino, Assistant Director IoT at Ooredoo, joined panellists from Vodafone Qatar, Mobily and CSG as they discussed how IoT is gaining momentum with the advance of 5G, allowing realisation of its full potential.
Topics covered included the global vision of IoT – including the 5G enhancements required for this vision, such as network slicing, non-public networks and 5G core – and how IoT use cases are transforming industries and connectivity, creating ground-breaking possibilities in digitising key verticals.
The panel also shared thoughts on handling mammoth data volumes with cloud computing, artificial intelligence and edge computing, and how 5G provides significantly faster data throughput and low-latency communication, supporting machine-type communications without any human interaction.
Thani Al Malki, Executive Director Business at Ooredoo, said: “We are always delighted and honoured to be invited to take part in panel discussions such as this one with our peers. We firmly believe a key element of progress is sharing knowledge, experience and best practice – especially when it comes to innovation and the latest technology – and take great pride in contributing to the advancement of our industry in this way.”
The panel discussion was conducted by Jim Morrish, a recognised analyst in IoT and digital transformation.
