At QITCOM 2019 Ooredoo Launches Web Application Firewall as a Service to Take on Application Cyberthreats

Doha, Qatar

Ooredoo, the region’s leading enabler of digital business innovation, announced today at QITCOM the launch of Qatar’s first end-to-end Web Application Firewall (WAF) as a Service solution, which will aid customers in protecting their online assets.

In the wake of increasing demand for robust web application protection, Ooredoo’s Cloud WAF provides customers with a fully managed service protecting their digital presence from a variety of cyberattacks.

Mission-critical applications can come under fire from automated bot attacks, injection attacks, as well as application-layer denial-of-service. These cyber-attacks can in turn not only lead to a loss of revenue, but may also impact a business’ reputation. Ooredoo’s Cloud WAF provides the shield to counter these threats.

As the latest release under its extensive managed security portfolio, Ooredoo will leverage its expertise as Qatar’s leading digital communications provider, along with its industry-leading connectivity and data centre services, to deliver its new Cloud-based managed WAF service.

Yousuf Abdulla Al Kubaisi, Ooredoo Qatar Chief Operations Officer, said: “As Qatar’s organisations digitally transform, they also face a larger number of increasingly complex cyber-threats. With Qatar’s first end-to-end Cloud WAF solution, we are helping organisations with a digital presence to optimise their cyber-security costs, scale up as their business expands, and provide complete protection as cyber-threats evolve.”

In order to monitor and manage the cloud-based WAF, Ooredoo will leverage its state-of-the-art Security Operations Centre. This Centre collectively provides next-generation incident detection and response capability coupled with local and global experts.

Al Kubaisi, added: “Our industry-leading Cloud WAF is built upon an end-to-end cybersecurity protection model, which has been localised to comply with Qatar’s data regulations. We are combining the best-in-class practices and web application firewall technology to ensure our clients and their customers remain protected at all time.”

Business customers can leverage the Ooredoo Advantage, making Ooredoo “Best for Business”, thanks to its breadth and depth of talent, best fixed and mobile networks, broadest portfolio of ICT services and solutions, and trusted partner for 60 years.
