New Partnership with SafeToNet Brings UK Safeguarding Solution to Qatar

Doha, Qatar

Qatar’s leading telecommunications operator has announced a new partnership aimed at promoting and ensuring online safety for children and young people.

The partnership with award-winning UK cyber-safety service SafeToNet brings customers in Qatar a new digital safeguarding technical solution to keep children and young people safer online.

British company SafeToNet offers a multi-award-winning service designed to safeguard children and young people while online, and keep them safe from online threats such as cyber-bullying, online abuse and aggression, via an educational approach to safeguarding supported by digital wellbeing content.

Using artificial intelligence, SafeToNet provides real-time advice and guidance to ensure children are steered away from harm, while protecting their right to privacy and independence. Children using SafeToNet use a pioneering keyboard that relies on artificial intelligence to detect and filter risks in real time, before harm is caused, and are given advice and guidance via the technology.

Ooredoo customers can download the SafeToNet app and either have their subscription fees added to their existing Ooredoo bill via in-carrier billing or have the fees deducted from their main credit balance if prepaid.

As part of the partnership, Ooredoo and SafeToNet will work together to educate children and young people on the importance of cyber-safety, with the aim of teaching them how to become safer digital citizens.

Sabah Rabiah Al-Kuwari, Director PR at Ooredoo, said: “At Ooredoo, we’re pioneers of the digital revolution and, as such, entirely supportive of our children and young people becoming true digital citizens. However, we recognise that online communities and resources can pose risks, especially to younger users, and we shoulder a responsibility to do whatever we can to ensure safety and security. This new partnership fits perfectly with both our corporate social responsibility strategy and our commitment to complete digitalisation; of course, we want to encourage our younger citizens to experience everything the internet has to offer, but we want them to stay safe while they do so. Teaming up with SafeToNet enables us to fulfil both aims in tandem, and we look forward to a lengthy partnership for the benefit of our younger customers and their families.”
