Ooredoo Marathon

Terms and Conditions

Rules and Regulations

All participants intending to run must have completed an official entry form. It is a condition of entry that you have read and you agree to the following regulations:

Age of entrant

Entrants into the 5km race must be at least 12 years on the day of the race. Entrants into the 10km race must be at least 17 on the day of the race. Entrants into the 21.1km Half Marathon must be at least 17 on the day of the race. Entrants into the 42.2km Full Marathon must be at least 18 on the day of the race. The 3km youth race is for runners aged 9-11. The 1km fun run is for runners aged 6-8 (runners may be accompanied by a supporting adult who will not be required to fill in an entry form or wear a number).

Physical challenge

Taking part in a marathon or running race of any distance is a very rewarding experience however competitive running is not to be undertaken lightly. You need to be physically fit enough to complete your chosen race distance. If in doubt consult your doctor. Do not take part if you are feeling unwell on the day of the race. While every reasonable precaution will be taken by the organisers to ensure the runners safety, entrants take part at their own risk and no person(s) or organisation(s) will be held responsible for any accident, injury or loss prior to, during or after the event.

The organisers reserve the right, at their discretion, to refuse to allow you to participate in the event at the start or to continue participation at any point along the route, should you be deemed to behave inappropriately or give cause for concern that your continued participation may cause offence or injury to yourself, any spectator or other competitor. Failure to comply with an instruction from race officials will result in ejection for the race.

Timing

Runners in the 5km, 10km, half and full marathon will be officially timed, however the organisers reserve the right to not officially time the race in the event of adverse weather conditions or due to other events outside the organisers’ control. Results will be published after the races have concluded.

By taking part in the race you agree to abide by rules and regulations of the IAAF and AIMS organisations.

Time limit

There is an official five hour finish time limit for the course, with police and medical support. A sweeper bus will pick up any remaining runners still on course as roads will be reopened to traffic.

Transfer of entry

Entries are non-refundable, non-deferrable and non-transferable, even in the case of event cancellation. You are not allowed to give or swap your running number with anyone else.

Headphones

The use of headphones and other music playing devices is not permitted. This is for your safety, as listening to music during the race may distract you from being able to hear instructions from race officials and other runners on the course.

Change of details

If your email or telephone number changes before the Ooredoo Doha Marathon, please inform the race organisers as soon as possible by emailing [email protected] to ensure you receive your pre-race information.

Race number collection

The collection of race pack, including race numbers, will be available before and on the morning of the event. You will be emailed further details in advance. Your official number must be displayed and clearly visible on the front of your clothing. Anyone not displaying an official number will not have their time recorded.

Prizes

Prizes are awarded on gun times. With the gun time, the clock starts to tick the moment the starter’s horn is sounded – the Ooredoo Running Festival races are competitive runs rather than time trials – therefore results and prizes are awarded according to gun time. Youth prizes will be awarded as an encouragement to younger runners.

While the course is not suitable for wheelchair users, disabled and special needs runners are encouraged. Please see prize list for extra awards. Those wishing to be eligible for these awards must notify the organisers before the race. You may be asked to produce medical documents confirming your eligibility for these awards.

Other notes

For safety reasons, no entries are permissible from those using roller skates, bicycles or with pushchairs. No pets or other animals are permitted. By entering the event you give permission for the free use of your name, voice or photograph in any broadcast, telecast, advertising promotion or other marketing for the event. If, for cultural reasons, you do not wish your photograph to be used for race publicity it is your responsibility to contact the organisers prior to the event.
