The 2014 Ooredoo Marathon – Qatar runs together!
The 2014 Ooredoo Marathon was a brilliant success, with more than 1,600 people registering, and scores of families and friends cheering them on.
Runners from 86 countries took part, including Qatar, Ethiopia, Ghana, Spain, Oman, Morocco, the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Nigeria, Tunisia and Palestine. The youngest entrant – running in the children’s race – was just five years old, while the oldest entrant was 68, proving that age is no barrier to health and fitness.
The event featured four courses for all abilities of runners including a 10km run, half-marathon, full marathon and a children’s 1km fun-run. Prizes were awarded to the best runners in a range of categories, based on age and gender.
Teams from businesses, universities, schools and athletic clubs took part and with all entry fees donated to Reach Out To Asia, the day raised a substantial amount for the charity.
Ooredoo launched the Ooredoo Marathon in 2013, and continues to support it as an annual event to promote health and fitness in Qatar. Support for the marathon is part of our wider strategy that involves grassroots sponsorship and community engagement, designed to encourage more people to get involved in sport.
Thanks to everyone who took part in the race and everyone who came along to cheer them on!
