New Service will Reduce Waste and Deliver Greater Convenience

Doha, Qatar

As part of an ongoing series of environmentally-aware innovations, Qtel today announced that it is moving towards electronic billing for all its customers.

Electronic billing – or “e-billing” – will deliver bills to customers via email as a PDF attachment for easy access and storage.

The move to e-billing will help reduce the amount of paper used in the production of bills, and provide customers with greater security and convenience for checking their monthly bills.

Qtel has a long-term plan to phase out all paper-based transactions, both internally, as Qtel becomes a “paperless office,” and for customers. The move to e-billing will take place in two phases, so that customers will have time to adapt to the new online offering.

Customers who want to continue to receive paper bills will still be able to, but Qtel plans to eventually introduce a small charge for paper bills to encourage people to switch to the more environmentally-friendly electronic option.

Qtel received the “Green Retailer Award” in the Qatar Today Green Awards, and the company is working hard to encourage more people to use channels that consume fewer resources and create less waste. As well as the e-billing service, Qtel also offers a wide range of e-payment options, including its nationwide network of Self-Service Machines (SSM) and its special eQtel service.

As part of its change communication process, Qtel is committed to notifying its customers in advance about any changes in services, terms or conditions such as the move to e-billing. This early notice for the e-billing service will be followed with more detailed information in the coming weeks, as the date for the changeover to the new e-billing process draws closer.

While customers do not need to do anything at this stage, those wishing to move to a paperless bill can utilise the eQtel Online Billing service.  eQtel Online Billing  can be activated by calling 114 or at all Qtel Shops, and it is completely free of charge.
