H.E. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Saud Al Thani is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Ooredoo. In his capacity as Chairman, His Excellency enjoys State Minister status and brings a wide range of business skills, experience and knowledge to Ooredoo. He has enhanced Ooredoo’s corporate governance to ensure the company is directed and controlled in line with international practices and in the process, reinforced both corporate accountability and the sustained creation of shareholder wealth. Sheikh Abdullah has also been instrumental in the restructuring and regional expansion of Ooredoo. After Ooredoo’s key acquisition of the Kuwait-based Wataniya Group (at the time representing the largest telecom acquisition in the Arab World), he became Chairman of Wataniya. He also serves as President Commissioner of Indosat (Indonesia) where Ooredoo has a 65% stake. In the last five years, Sheikh Abdullah has steered the growth of Ooredoo from a single country to the existing footprint which encompasses a presence in 17 countries spanning from North Africa to South East Asia. During this time Ooredoo has witnessed an eight fold increase in revenue from just over USD 800 million to USD 7.5 billion at the end of 2010. Sheikh Abdullah previously held several high profile positions in Qatar including Chief of the Royal Court (Amiri Diwan) from 2000 to 2005. He also served as a Member of the Qatari Planning Council from 2001 to 2004. A certified pilot instructor by way of the British Royal Air Force, Sheikh Abdullah has an extensive background in both the military and in aviation. A flight school graduate from the British Army Air Corps, he completed his studies at the Senior Army War College, Carlisle Barracks in the United States of America.

He began his career at Ooredoo (when it was Qtel) in 1992 as an expert advisor from the University of Qatar and was subsequently appointed in 1994 to Director of Strategic Planning and Development, becoming CEO in 2002. In this capacity Dr. Nasser has participated in a number of high-level government committees and has became a member of the Board of Directors of several Ooredoo subsidiaries. Previously, Dr. Nasser served as a lecturer and assistant professor in the Electrical Engineering Department of the University of Qatar. Dr. Nasser holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Communication Engineering, all from George Washington University in the United States. He sits on the Board of Directors of the GSM Association.

Saud Bin Nasser Al Thani joined Ooredoo (when it was Qtel) in 1990. Since then, Saud has gained a wide range of experience in internal relations, personnel administration, human resources and policies and procedures. He has handled key projects like the restructuring of the organization in 1998, the structure review in 2000 and the job evaluation and compensation review with Ooredoo ’s auditors KPMG. In 2005, Saud was appointed Executive Director of Special Businesses. Saud and his unit handle Ooredoo ’s cable television, payphone, yellow pages, directory and coast station services. Saud has a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from Western International University, Phoenix, Arizona. He is a member of the Ooredoo Steering Committee for the Doha Asian Games Organizing Committee.

Waleed Al-Sayed has joined Ooredoo (when it was Qtel) in 1987 and worked in various positions mainly in Sales, Marketing, Project Management, Business Solutions, Communication and Customer Services. In 1992 Waleed has managed the project of Ras Laffan LNG and supported all contractors and companies with their entire telecom requirements until they became fully functional. In 1998 he was appointed as Marketing and Planning Manager for Mobile Services for which he has contributed to increase the subscriber base significantly. In 2004 he was appointed as Executive Director-Group Communication where he has put the plan and implemented a very clear strategy which has significantly improved the corporate image; strengthen the international and community relations. He also carried out several corporate social responsibility initiatives that has positioned Ooredoo as leading corporate in the country. He was instrumental in carrying out several successful campaigns to lead Ooredoo in winning many international prizes. In 2006 he was appointed as Executive Director-Customer Services to establish the superior customer experience. He is a board member of Ooredoo subsidiary Nedjma (Wataniya Algeria). Waleed has attended many courses in Management, Leadership, Project Planning, Public Relation, Public Speaking, Marketing, Sales, etc.
